Tasting notes

A delicious dry cider made with fruit from a 90 year old orchard. Naturally sparkling, this cider has been disgorged à la volée. In using this ancient French technique, used in champagne making, we are able to remove the sediment from the bottle. The work is all done by hand and is slow, labour intensive and highly skilled but is preferable to us in terms of retaining flavour than the more industrial process of filtering.

Food pairing suggestions

Hints of orange rind with a twist of smoke makes this cider pair beautifully with salty, hard cheeses.

The story behind the cider

High and safe in the branches of an old apple tree sits more than fruit. Their jewel bright wings fanning nervous cocked heads in automaton movement, the orchard flock sits dappled in the lush greens of a thousand leaves. Offering natural pest control in exchange for a share of the fruit, who could possibly refuse this beautiful army?

Dunnocks, jays, blackbirds, wrens, woodpeckers, fieldfares and goldfinches are all common sights in the unsprayed traditional standard orchards from which we harvest our fruit but sadly it’s not the case in every orchard. Continued use of pesticides will condemn these creatures to history unless we act.

The cider in this bottle came from a truly wild place, by drinking it you are supporting us in our mission to protect these orchards.

Carbon footprint

The Co2 emissons for 1x bottle of Flock measures 1.001kg.

We are hugely proud to be the first UK cidery to publish our carbon foot printing data. Since 2021 each bottle produced has contained this information on the label and we are pleased to say that the carbon associated with each bottle is decreasing with each vintage as we continue to make changes in the cidery. We believe that sharing this data is essential for us all to start being able to make conscious and informed choices about what we consume and the effect those decisions will have on our planet.

FAQs

How quickly will I recieve my order?

Everything is packed and shipped by us (Tom and Lydia) at the cidery and we aim to get all orders out within two days of purchase. If you need your cider more quickly, get in touch and we'll do our best to help!

Orders are shipped via Parcel Force on a next day delivery service.

Does the cider have a use by date?

Unopened and stored in a cool, dry place our cider will be good to drink for around three years  As a general rule, like wine, cider has excellent capacity for ageing.

If the cider has been opened we recommend sealing with a champagne stopper and storing in the fridge for no more than 24 hours.

Is the cider vegan friendly?

Yes, our only ingredient is apples!

Is the cider organic?

We only use organically grown, unsprayed apples in our cider. Due to the number of orchards we care for belonging to other people we are not able to offically certify ourselves organic at this point in time.

Does the cider contain sulphites?

Our cider does not contain sulphites, however our perries contain a trace amount.

Who designs your labels?

All of the label artwork and graphic design is done in house by Lydia and stuck to the bottles using an up-cycled, and crucially, plastic free glue invented by Tom. They take an equal share in the orcharding and cider making, although if asked, each will tell you they are the chief cider maker!

Check out our range of postcard art prints featuring Lydia's label art from past vintages!

Can I come and collect my order from the cidery?
