What is cider brandy?

Cider brandy is distilled cider that has been aged on oak. We distil our best cider which has been made to the same standard as everything we make: fruit handpicked by the two of us from traditional standard orchards. It's always a rather painful day watching our cider bubble away in the still and reduce to about 20% of it's original measure but the result is more than worth it! We can't even begin to imagine how many apples go into making each bottle but think of our cider brandy as a whole orchard in a bottle!

How to drink it

We enjoy drinking a small measure of our cider brandy on the rocks. Alternatively it works really well when added to a cup of hot spiced mulled cider. We find it's the perfect way warm up after a chilly day at the cider press!

The story behind the brandy!

Two blended bittersweet ciders made from apples handpicked from old Herefordshire orchards were pressed in 2021 and 2022.  Following fermentation the ciders were matured and then distilled together using a wood-fired copper still in August 2023 before spending nine months ageing in an oak cider brandy barrel that we have been adding and drawing brandy to and from since 2018. Think of this somewhat as a brandy solera!

FAQs

How quickly will I recieve my order?

Everything is packed and shipped by us (Tom and Lydia) at the cidery and we aim to get all orders out within two days of purchase. If you need your cider more quickly, get in touch and we'll do our best to help!

Orders are shipped via Parcel Force on a next day delivery service.

Does the Cider Brandy have a use by date?

Unopened and stored in a cool, dry place our cider brandy will be good to drink for years and years. 

One opened store it it in a cool dark place and enjoy at your leisure. 

Is the Cider Brandy vegan friendly?

Yes! The only ingredients are apples and water.

Is the Cider Brandy organic?

We only use organically grown, unsprayed apples in our cider brandy. Due to the number of orchards we care for belonging to other people we are not able to offically certify ourselves organic at this point in time.

Does the Cider Brandy contain sulphites?

No, there are no sulphites used.
