Tasting notes

This cider was made from a rare variety of apple called Binet Rouge, handpicked from a biodiverse 90 year old orchard in Herefordshire’s Golden Valley.  The Binet Rouge is one of about 30 apple varieties designated for the making of Calvados apple spirits and is approved for the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée in the region of Normandy. Sadly we only have two trees and neither yield enough to experiment with Calvados, however we’ve discovered that it’s a variety capable of making an absolutely delicious cider. The trees had a good year in 2024 and marked our first opportunity to make a single variety Binet Rouge.

Food pairing suggestions

Grippy tannins complement a flavour reminiscent of strawberries. This sparkling cider pairs beautifully with a soft creamy goat’s cheese. We like Perroche from Neal’s Yard.

The story behind the cider

We believe that small choices can have big impacts. Whether planting a tree to bear fruit for the next generation or simply making a conscious decision to eschew the faceless, profit extracting nature of big global business in favour of supporting local crafts, growers and in turn, community. In a world that seems to be moving further away from celebrating treasures made and grown by human hand this is our call to arms to shop sustainably for both people and planet. Let’s benefit the swallows, not the amazons.

The CO2 emissons for 1x bottle of No Amazons measures 2.65kg.

We are hugely proud to be the first UK cidery to publish our carbon foot printing data and since 2021 each bottle produced has contained this information on the label. We believe that sharing this data is essential for us all to start being able to make conscious and informed choices about what we consume and the effect those decisions will have on our planet.

FAQs

How quickly will I recieve my order?

Everything is packed and shipped by us (Tom and Lydia) at the cidery and we aim to get all orders out within two days of purchase. If you need your cider more quickly, get in touch and we'll do our best to help!

Orders are shipped via Parcel Force on a next day delivery service.

Does the cider have a use by date?

Unopened and stored in a cool, dry place our cider will be good to drink for around three years  As a general rule, like wine, cider has excellent capacity for ageing.

If the cider has been opened we recommend sealing with a champagne stopper and storing in the fridge for no more than 24 hours.

Is the cider vegan friendly?

Yes, our only ingredient is apples!

Is the cider organic?

We only use organically grown, unsprayed apples in our cider. Due to the number of orchards we care for belonging to other people we are not able to offically certify ourselves organic at this point in time.

Does the cider contain sulphites?

Our cider does not contain sulphites, however our perries contain a trace amount.

Who designs your labels?

All of the label artwork and graphic design is done in house by Lydia using traditional materials. The labels are printed onto recycled paper by a wonderful, local family run printing company and then stuck to the bottles by us using an up-cycled, and crucially, plastic free glue invented by Tom.

Check out our range of postcard art prints featuring Lydia's label art from past vintages!

Can I come and collect my order from the cidery?
